The band does run small if you're thinking about getting this one (I usually wear a 28 band and this fits perfectly, stretches to 28.5"). I got this in two colors, a Magenta-like color (this one) called "Retro Glow" and in black. It also has a nice sheen to it, and is very smooth. I love this bra! The fabric is so soft it feels like the bra is hugging me when I wear it. This is a great bra for lounging and maybe more if it fits you better than it fits me!ĭoes anyone else own this model? I found the sizing of the XS DD to be like a 30D so if you wanted to order the XS D maybe size up. I found there was not much support to be had in this bralette, but I say that with the caveat that the band size is one or two sizes too large for me. The cups are shallow and wide and don't have much centre coverage. They are semi-adjustable and have a J-hook so you can turn them into a racerback which I find handy.

I had to use some might to get it to stretch to 30", so 28-band wearers might find the band OK as well. The upper and lower bands are thin (0.3") and fairly stretchy, so there's not a ton of potential for support.

I got the classic lace bralette in XS DD and have provided the measurements here. These sizes are meant to be a 30DD and 30D respectively I'm guessing based on their size chart. Aerie's classic lace bralette (and the lace halter bralette) come in sizes "XS DD" and "XS D" now, but online only. Get non-boring fashion and beauty news directly in your feed. So, long story short, bra sizing is a mess - it's completely different from one brand and one cut to the next, so even if you are a 34B in one bra, you definitely won't be in all of them.

When you are in between bra sizes like that, it's actually better to choose the larger of the two cup sizes and then use pads to fill out the extra space, rather than cramming your breast into a cup that is too small. If your breasts come more from the side, as many women's do, higher cuts are often more accommodating than something that cuts straight across.Īlthough some of the women found that the Aerie and GAP bras were too large in the cup, in most of those cases, the difference was not drastic enough to justify them going down a whole cup size. That's not to say that the Victoria's Secret bra is designed badly - it really just depends on the shape of your breasts and where they are positioned on your body. There also seemed to be a general consensus that the cups on the Victoria's Secret bra was smaller that the cups on the Aerie and GAP bras, and that the cut of the Victoria's Secret bra was more likely to cause spillage out the sides than the higher-cut Aerie and Gap bras. In the end, many of the women found that the bands on the bras were looser than they would like, but admitted that they often fit their bras to the tightest set of hooks, rather than the loosest, which would seem to indicate that they should actually go down a band size. Bra sizing is so weird.Ĭoco's ranking from best fit to worst fit: Aerie, her own Victoria's Secret bra, GAP, Victoria's Secret Some people didn't really fit any of the bras. Some were wearing bras that were only a few months old, while others had been wearing the same bra for years, despite the fact that most bras lose their elasticity after six months to a year of regular wear. Some of the women had been professionally sized previously. With that in mind, asked nine self-described 34B's to try on bras from three of the world's biggest bra manufacturers - Victoria's Secret, Aerie, and GAP - to see how they stacked up against their own 34B bras.

"I swear, half the people who come in here say they are a 34B," said a saleswoman at Victoria's Secret, "and they buy that size whether it fits or not."įor the record, you know that a bra fits when the band sits securely all around your rib cage on the loosest setting (the extra hooks are there to tighten the bra as it stretches out) and the inside of the cups should have full contact with the surface of your breast without bulging or spillage out the sides.

"That size is always the first to sell out," the Aerie saleswoman said as she checked for the size among the dozen or so lightly lined options in the store - the only ones left were in beige and black. 34B is one of the most popular bra sizes in the country.
